Who We Are
Our Mission and Values
At First Presbyterian Church of Highlands (FPCH), we believe in welcoming everyone with open arms, regardless of who you are, where you come from, or why you’ve decided to visit us.
As a community of Christ’s people, this is Christ’s place, and our doors are always open wide to everyone.
Whether you are passing through or seeking a church home, we invite you to join us in following Jesus Christ. Visitors are always welcome, and we hope you’ll return often to share in our fellowship.

Commitment to Community
FPCH is deeply rooted in its commitment to serving the community.
Through partnerships with local and global non-profits, we extend our mission far and wide.
Our church building serves as a hub for community support, hosting 12-Step meetings, ESL classes, local clubs, group gatherings, and community-wide events.
A highlight of our service is our Sonshine School and Sonshine Summer program, which provides care and enrichment for elementary-aged children throughout the year. These programs reflect our dedication to nurturing the next generation.
A Rich History
Established in 1885, First Presbyterian Church has been a cornerstone of the Highlands community for over a century.
In 1996, our church was honored to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, a testament to our enduring presence and historical significance.
In June 2014, we dedicated our Memorial Garden, a peaceful and consecrated space on the southwest edge of our property.
The garden serves as a place of reflection and respite and provides a site for the interment of ash remains and memorialization of church members and their families.

Sacred Music and Fellowship
Music is at the heart of our church, and we take great joy in sacred music throughout the year.
Our talented Organist, choir, and guest musicians bring a sense of spiritual enrichment to our services.
Summers are particularly special, as we host a concert series that showcases a diverse range of music styles. Additionally, we partner with the Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival to bring world-class music to our congregation and community.
A Community of Love and Kindness
Above all, FPCH is known for the kindness and love of its people.
We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and embraced.
Whether you’re seeking spiritual guidance, fellowship, or simply a place to feel at home, we invite you to join us at First Presbyterian Church of Highlands.
