SonShine School is an after-school program hosted by the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands, designed to offer a safe and enriching environment for students in grades K-5 from Highlands School.
Our mission is to provide children with a space to unwind after their school day, receive academic support, and engage in fun activities that foster growth and lasting memories. Best of all, SonShine School is completely tuition-free!

Daily Schedule
Each afternoon is structured to ensure children have time to recharge, learn, and have fun.
Arrival: Students are welcomed off the bus at the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands.
Snack Time: At 4:00 PM, children enjoy a healthy snack to refuel.
Homework Support: Students focus on completing their homework with guidance from our caring teachers.
Play and Activities: After homework, children release energy, socialize, and participate in engaging activities.
Pick-Up Time: The program concludes at 5:00 PM.

Special Activities
Every Thursday, we host a unique event to enrich students’ experiences.
Library Visits: Foster a love for reading and storytelling.
Pool Time: Encourage physical activity and build confidence in the water.
Science Lessons: Hands-on experiments with the Highlands Landtrust spark curiosity and discovery.
